But in the summer, you can just forget it
We are really going to have to do something about the giant window that’s on the west side of our house. The way that the room starts heating up in the afternoon sun is costing us a fortune in air conditioning bills during the spring, summer, and fall. The only time that it is actually helpful is during the coldest winter months. I am not really sure why the general contractor who built this house put that window in right there in the first place. In my opinion, it should have been placed elsewhere in the house.I think it would be better if it was the morning sun that came in rather than the evening sun. I don’t know, maybe the guy just had a thing for sunsets and he wanted whoever bought the house to be able to watch them every night. However, since the room starts heating up so much, nobody even wants to go in there, much less watch any of the sunsets. It’s really terrible, and in the summer, we have to pay a fortune in cooling bills because of it. It heats up literally the whole house. It’s pretty helpful in the winter, because you can go in there and get warmed up when the rest of the house might be a little bit chilly. But in the summer, you can just forget it. It gets so hot in there, that even when you’re sitting right next to that air conditioning vent in the corner of the room, the temperature is still too warm to stay in there for very long. It’s unfortunate because that room has the comfiest furniture of anywhere else in the house. It would be a great place for family gatherings in the evenings if only it wasn’t so hot.
