You’re an HVAC tech; not a web developer.

I had a friend tell me that if I wanted my HVAC company to fail; I should continue doing what I was doing.

I just looked at him while thinking he was crazy.

Why would I want my HVAC company to fail, and what would make him think that way? He smiled and told me to think about it. That was all I was thinking about, or I wouldn’t have called him. I needed someone who could give me ideas on how to build the business and not let it fail. It was then I realized he was giving me the same spiel he gave his customers, but I was his friend. I asked him point blank; what did I need to do to make my company grow? He smiled and told me; thanks for asking. He started telling me how I should have a website letting potential customers know what services I offered. I shouldn’t talk about myself so much as I should talk about the HVAC knowledge my HVAC technicians have. He looked at me determinedly, like he was trying to hypnotize me, and told me that I’m an HVAC technician; not a web developer. He told me he was a web developer, and I needed him. I punched him in the shoulder and told him that is why I asked him to come over. He started laughing and said that sometimes he got into the online salesperson mode, and this was it. He offered to help with the new website and told me what he normally charged. He said he would cut the cost in half for me.
