I was wondering if I made a big mistake by telling my nephew that he could be an HVAC technician.
When he got that idea in his head, he started studying a lot about repairing different types of HVAC devices online.
The thing is, to become a professional, you have to go to school to become certified. Then you have to be trained to become a skilled HVAC professional. Well, ever since my nephew has been coming over and asking if he can work on my HVAC equipment. He always points out some kind of issue like he pointed out with the air quality in my home. His solution to that was to use better air filters. He also said he wanted to install an air purification system in my home for the right price, but I refused. I said if I were going to get an air purification system installed, I would call the HVAC professionals to do that. Then the one day when I had my AC system struggling, he told me he knew precisely what was wrong with it. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I let him go for the repair. He opened the HVAC unit after he shut off the power to it and was messing around with one of the components where he suspected there was an issue. He ended up breaking the part… I was so angry and then I had to call up the real HVAC professionals. The guy who came out was disappointed when he discovered the broken part. He said clearly a non-professional was messing with the system and the warranty would be void. So now my HVAC warranty is void and I had to pay a lot of money to have the HVAC fixed after my nephew broke it!
