I went to the beach for my swim this morning and saw the MartianMan again. He walks around with a huge bandana hanging down like a scarf from his head while he carries a transistor radio and a box of wine. The other day he was so drunk that he could barely walk, and this morning he was getting an early start drinking at 11am or before. I don’t know where these characters come from but we get them constantly and they are a great source of entertainment for us locals living here. He’ll be gone soon and my local contractor will be happy about it because the guy usually passes out in front of his local business each evening. We have a lot of homeless people in town here as they like to live near the coast where they can get money from the tourists passing by. The heating dealership sometimes gives these homeless people some food after they shut the doors to their HVAC businesses and take the food from the store employees and give it to the homeless. The MartianMan will probably not be around long as he is not very healthy from what I see, and the sad part is the poor guy is only about 30 years old from what I can tell. Maybe he was an HVAC tech and breathed in too many chemicals on the job, or maybe he has just had a bad life and is drinking to forget about all his worries. I’d like to talk to him one day but I don’t know if he will ever be sober enough to do so.
