When my kids first started making complaints about the temperature control settings in their school, I thought they were whining over nothing.
- You know how kids are these days, they are spoiled with just about everything including the temperature control settings.
I prefer to keep the temperature control at 71 degrees which I feel is reasonable. The kids kept saying how they hated going to school because they always felt like they were roasting to death. They even said that they felt like the school was conducting some kind of conspiracy experiment on the students to see how we handled the overheated temperatures. I finally decided that I wanted to see what was going on for myself, so I told them I wanted to speak to the principal. When I arrived at the school, I couldn’t believe it. The place was scorching hot. It must have been at least 80 degrees in the school building! I realized that my children were telling me the truth, that they were basically being tortured with the temperature control settings. When I spoke to the principal, I demanded that he explain what was going on with the temperature control settings. The principal apologized and said that the HVAC was costing them a great deal of money because it wasn’t exactly energy efficient. He actually rationalized sacrificing the comfort of the students to save money on energy bills! I told them I was going to bring a lawsuit if they didn’t stop torturing the students. The next thing I knew, they adjusted the temperature control settings to 74 degrees, which was better.
