My glamorous bedroom missed the mark.

When I was younger, I always pictured myself having a glamorous bedroom like those in the 1940s movies.

I was going to marry a rich man who would give me the gold plated mirror frame to go at the back of my wardrobe.

My bed was going to be elegant with sweeping lines and amazing detail on the posts. I pictured myself laying on the bed in my glamorous, slinky nightgown, waiting for my husband come to bed. When I got older, I realized that having a glamorous bedroom was not going to be as inexpensive as I hope, and my idea of a glamorous bedroom missed the mark for today’s world. I would still be able to get the glamorous bedroom of my dreams, if I was willing to put out thousands and thousands of dollars, but my husband and I didn’t have it. Instead, he asked a friend of his to build us a headboard and footboard to go with our rather plain mattress and box springs. He had a matching chiffarobe that has the same design on the doors as we had on our headboard and footboard. When his friend was done with the carving and staining of the wood, I was thrilled. Although it wasn’t the grand bedroom that Marlena Dietrich may have spent time in while in her movies, it was the perfect grand bedroom for my husband and I to enjoy for the rest of our lives. The first night our glamorous bedroom was in place, I put on my most glamorous set of pajamas, curled up on the blanket, and watched a movie with my husband.
