I had a problem with cocky people.
My father once told me that cocky people had to boast to make themselves look better. It was like a turkey puffing out his feathers and spreading his tail feathers. It made him look bigger to scare off other birds. He said that is what a cocky person does. He builds himself up with words and not feathers. I had a problem with the HVAC technician that was at my house last week. He was one of the cockiest men I had ever met. His entire demeanor had me on edge and I wondered what he was trying to hide. I knew it wasn’t his ability to work on an HVAC system. Although the HVAC technician was cocky, he was still very good with the air conditioning unit he was working on. I was at my aunt’s house when the HVAC technician arrived. Auntie told me he was like a peacock prancing around me. I told her I didn’t like his cockiness. She said he was just putting on airs trying to make himself look good to you. I liked his ability to repair the air conditioning, but not his cockiness. When he was getting ready to leave, he looked at me and said that he knew I didn’t like him very much. I agreed and was heading back into the house. He asked if he could have another chance. When I snapped back that he had already repaired the air conditioning unit. He said he was cocky, but I was a shrew. I laughed, and so did he.
