I have been servicing heating and cooling machines for most of my life.
I went to Heating plus A/C university at 17, and was a certified Heating plus A/C specialist at 19, already with a task at a local heating and air conditioner dealer… Being a Heating plus A/C tech is a pretty straight forward task, and doesn’t change that much.
My schedule mostly remains the same and every day seems the same. While that might bother some people, I undoubtedly enjoy a predictable schedule. However, sometimes some of my heating and cooling appointments are quite funny and weird. A enjoyable example is Last week’s Heating plus A/C appointment. I went to the appointment, expecting the correct and a girl answered, everything seemed to go as planned, she showed me the issue with her window Heating plus A/C, and I leaned down to look at it. I abruptly felt a light weight on my back, and looking over my shoulder, I saw a sizable parrot on my back… The girl didn’t make any moves to stop the bird, even though she told me it was a friendly African Grey parrot. I’ve never had a bird land on me before, so it was an interesting feeling having it walk all over me. The bird eventually settled on my head and started messing with my hair, which the girl told me she was grooming me. Although hard to focus, I did manage to get the cooling component back up and running again. When I left her place, I sat in my heating and air conditioner truck for a few sevenths and laughed at the oddity of the situation. It was kind of nice to have something so unexpected happen, and I smiled the rest of the day.
