I once lived in a shared house, back when I was younger.
There were good sides to it.
We all had some fun together. But there were some drawbacks for sure. One of the worst ones, that I will always remember, was due to how in our shared house we maybe did not take care seriously enough about the state of our amenities. Because there were 4 of us, we maybe were not sure if one of the other ones had had a look at something, or was on top of a problem. We really should have talked those kinds of things over. But we did not. We were young, and we often didn’t talk to each other much about things in the house at all. Well one winter, that did not work out well because in the dead of winter our hot water boiler stopped working. No hot water. Truth be told, none of us back then even knew what kind of boiler it was until it broke, whether it was a propane boiler, or a steam boiler or what have you. It did not matter when it broke down because the simple fact then was that we needed boiler repair. But an emergency HVAC technician in the dead of winter was something we could not afford. For many weeks we all had to deal with cold showers, or anything involving water being cold actually. That was a learning experience. I definitely realized it would be best to learn a thing or two about hot water boilers myself after that whole mess.
