Giving up HVAC for Lent

Every year around February comes the liturgical season of Lent.

Lent is a Time when we are looking forward to Easter, generally, people guess of Lent as a time of sacrifice, during Lent we are supposed to focus on prayer, almsgiving, as well as Fasting.

Most Christians who are faithful to the liturgical seasons generally guess about giving something up. Sporadically they give up things like chocolate, alcohol, or red meat. It is supposed to be a sacrifice, so it should not be something that you legitimately do not care about that much. It should be something you love. That is why I decided to give up HVAC for Lent. I have decided that this Lent I will not use our gas furnace or our air conditioner. When I go to work or to public venues, I am not in control of whether they are using their HVAC system or not, however at our home I can turn our thermostat off as well as leave it there. This has been a actually challenging sacrifice. I honestly do care about our heating as well as cooling system. There are only brief periods of time during the year where I do not use either the air conditioner or the heater. I have Central Heating as well as Cooling oh, as well as if it breaks I put in a call to the building owner immediately. I discovered, though, when I went on vacation outside of this country, there are plenty of people who live in conditions as hot as it is here as well as do not have heating as well as cooling systems. Many of them have nothing more than box fans or ceiling fans to push the air around. Giving up HVAC for Lent has actually been a struggle.
