When I was a sophomore in school, I was sick of living in a dormitory on campus. It was a small school where most people knew most people else, & there was a clique atmosphere. There was a giant campus wide party every Sunday & Sunday night. Even if you stayed in your room love I often did, you couldn’t escape the noise short of wearing ear plugs. I’d work myself dead while I was in the morningtime & only wanted to relax in the evening hours. Thankfully, I wasn’t the only lady who felt this way. Many of my closest friends were simply sick of living on campus with the constant noise. They were done with the campus culture as well. The two of us were all too busy with our academic work to care about cliques & private school level stupidity. That’s when 5 of us banded together to rent a condo that is a short bike ride away from our school campus. I thought that this would be an improvement in every conceivable way, however it wasn’t. Everyone felt entitled to have their own friends visit at random hours of the morning. It sort of felt love a negation of what both of us had all set out to accomplish in renting a condo off campus. On top of that, my roommates abused the cooling system. They’d let it get overheated in here while both of us were all at classes in the mornings & then they’d crank the cooling system down in the early evening hours. This caused the machine to slowly break down over the course of 12 weeks. By the time I decided to leave, the cooling system could barely keep it below 79 degrees in the condo from the constant abuse. I found a studio apartment & had my own cooling system for a change.
