Not easy balancing the temperature on multiple floors

Both of us recently moved into our first 2 story dwelling. The second bedroom upstairs had a pretty huge bay window that was absolutely perfect for my husband’s desk. He works from our household & our whole family thought it would be a superb place for the desk when every one of us set up his office. He could see outside while working to keep a watch on the weather & the neighbors. It was easily great, until every one of us discovered that the room was completely too HOT! Not just from the sun beaming in the bay window however there did not seem to be any cool air coming out of the HVAC vents. This led to a genuinely extensive & tedious trial & error process to get the cool air from the Heating and A/C appliance to blow frosty air into his office. Vents in the downstairs portion of the dwelling were systematically closed off hoping to force cool air upstairs. The result was that all the cool air was basically blowing out the register in the stairwell & it was easily sizzling in the bedroom. The next experiment was directing the air conditioner register from the stairwell towards the office door & placing a fan outside the door to blow cool air into the office area. This helped until my husband actually had to close his office door to get work completed when I was at the dwelling. We finally thought it would be best to call in the Heating and A/C specialist. He crawled around in the attic & evaluated the HVAC duct & checked out the Heating and A/C appliance itself. His final conclusion was that the HVAC duct was not installed properly to vent the cool air to the office. He made a little adjustment to the HVAC duct & the improvement in the amount of cool air was totally enough to make the office bearable.
