Summer schedule dictated by temperature and HVAC

Working from home comes with some benefits.

While I don’t get to appreciate the lovely zone controlled HVAC comfort of the office, there are trade offs.

And a single of those trade offs is, for the most part, that our work schedule is up to me. This is something that is a particularly nice benefit. I love the method that I can get our work done on our schedule and not have to work traditional hours day in and day out. So if I need to go choice up the kids or whatever, I can put our work down and go do that. This makes our lives infinitely easier to schedule. However while in the summer, I stick to a pretty set schedule that is dictated by both the outside temperature and the indoor thermostat. That’s right, I tend to work around the worst heat of the day. What I do is get up particularly early and get to work. I keep the pace going until after lunch. The two of us keep the thermostat in the low 76’s while in the heat of the day in order to save as much as possible on the HVAC cooling. So I take this section of the day to go do our errands and get more HVAC cooling for free. I schedule our errands around the locales I have to go with the best air conditioning. Then while in the later section of the afternoon as the heat wanes and the thermostat drops some, I’m back in our office to finish our days work before starting supper. It works out pretty good for myself and others and I get both our work and errands done while also enjoying someone else’s HVAC cooling while in the heat of the day.
