The Ice Melted Too Quickly On The A/C Unit and It Flooded

I couldn’t guess the amount of ice that built up on my A/C unit last weekend. I had no method that ice was even forming, and by the time I noticed, it was too late. My A/C program was running well, so I decided not to call an Heating and A/C supplier to come look at it. This was a bad idea. Instead, I decided to melt the ice myself. I took my fiance’s hair dryer and began pointing it at the frozen ice surrounding the cooling system. It took myself and others a long time to get everything melted because the ice was so thick. Once all the ice had melted off of my cooling system, I went about my afternoon per usual. That night, everything started going wrong. The air coming out of my air vents was no longer cool, and my A/C program was struggling to keep my lake house at a acceptable temperature. Then, I saw water leaking into my house! As soon as I noticed the water, I called the emergency Heating and A/C line and advised an appointment. They were able to send an Heating and A/C professional to my home first thing in the afternoon. The Heating and A/C professional told myself and others that I’d melted the ice too fast on the A/C unit, which had caused the drip pan to overflow and leak water into my house. She commanded that the next time ice formed on my A/C unit, that I should contact a professional instead of using my fiance’s hair dryer.
