There is a need for air conditioners in schools

I have been a teacher for about 10 years now, and while I love my job, it does come with its share of challenges.

Some days are better than others, and I have grown to acknowledge the good days and be grateful for them.

There are days when you have that one kid who refuses to listen to what you have to say, and you end up having to deal with removing them from the classroom. Luckily that doesn’t happen every day but when it does, it definitely makes the job a bit harder. While the kids can be challenging, most of the major obstacles come from the board members and the people in charge. Receiving proper funding for supplies has always been a challenge for us as teachers. Another challenge that we have been facing is getting air conditioners installed in our school building. Over the years, the classrooms have become extremely uncomfortable. And when you have kids who are complaining about being hot, there isn’t much learning happening. And I must say that I have gotten irritable due to the fact that my classroom has no air conditioning. Fortunately, the board did approve installing air conditioning inside the school, but due to the cost and the size of the project, it will take about two years before it’s fully complete. The project will be done in phases. In the meantime, we have made some temporary adjustments to alleviate some of the heat during the day. We have rented some temporary trailers with air conditioning that we use for some of our classrooms. Though it’s not the most ideal place to teach, at least the trailers have air conditioning.
