Trying to get a balance of temperature upstairs and downstairs

The two of us recently moved into our first multiple story townhome. The other bedroom upstairs had a good bay window that was ideal for my fiance’s desk. She works from our place plus we thought it would be a pretty good place for the desk when we set up her office. She could see outside while toiling to keep an eye on the weather plus the neighbors. It was awesome, until we actually discovered that the room was blazing HOT! Not just from the sunshine pouring in the bay window but there did not seem to be any cool air coming out of the cooling device register. This led to a legitimately expansive plus tedious trial plus error process to get the cool air from the Heating & Air Conditioning device to blow cold air into her office environment. Vents in the downstairs portion of the place were systematically closed off hoping to force cool air upstairs. The result was that all the cool air was blowing out the register in the stairwell plus it was tepid in the living room. The next experiment was directing the cooling device register from the stairwell towards the office door plus placing a fan outside the door to blow cool air into the office. This helped until my fiance needed to close her office door to get work done when I was at the place. The two of us finally made the choice to call in the Heating & Air Conditioning appliance worker. She crawled around in the attic plus worked on the ductwork plus checked out the Heating & Air Conditioning appliance itself. Her final determination was that the air duct was not installed officially to vent the cool air to the office. She made a small adjustment to the ductwork plus the improvement in the amount of cool air was enough to make the office somewhat bearable.
