A Quiet Life of Melting Into Obscurity

Today I am going to work on my radiant heater because the power cord broke a while ago and I am going to replace it with one that I bought at the local business the other day

When I started my comedy career almost 20 years ago I thought I wanted to be big and famous with shows all across the world. I left my engineering job in the HVAC industry to doggedly pursue comedy full time. But after doing it for a while I realized that fame is not what I really wanted and that I got the most pleasure just from creating material and connecting with the audience. It didn’t matter how big the crowd was or how much money I made, what really made me feel good was just performing and having fun. I was happier performing in the small dive bars without any climate control on those hot summer nights than chasing the big crowds in the nice air conditioned theaters. Once I shifted my gaze I was able to stop frantically pursuing and start enjoying the process. I think the same could be said for life itself, stop pursuing and start enjoying. I still dabble in HVAC repairs now and then, and have since left the comedy field to focus on a musical pursuit. I enjoy playing the drums and singing with my friend here in our town, and do so at a more relaxed pace while just having fun doing what I love. Today I am going to work on my radiant heater because the power cord broke a while ago and I am going to replace it with one that I bought at the local business the other day. I’m resting today because last night was a party and music night in my flat.
