Air filters in window AC units should be regularly changed

I recently moved into a new apartment that has window AC units.

I’ve only ever had experience with central air conditioning, so it’s been quite the learning curve for me.

Window AC units aren’t as bad as I thought they would be, but they’re definitely not the most convenient form of air conditioning. I’m very used to quiet air conditioning that I don’t hear running in the background of my recordings, but the window AC units are incredibly loud and unforgiving. They also tend to be overworked more easily than central air conditioning when you are running them for a long time during the summer season. I find that swapping out air filters regularly is key for this type of air conditioning to be successful. Their air filters get dirty so quickly since the units are directly linked to the outdoors and push air right through into the house. I change out my air filters once a month because I have terrible allergies and don’t want to deal with poor indoor air. Even though there are lots of learning curves with nuances in the new place, I’m learning a lot about so many different elements of the home. Each apartment in my area comes with its own set of characteristics that make it feel like home, albeit, some of those characteristics can be a bit dingy, but it’s fun! I’ve had to create so many little DIY fixes to make things usable for daily use. My walls in the apartment aren’t great for hanging things, so I’m really embracing a more minimalistic approach.
