Blocked Air From Our Oil Furnace Made The Whole House Stink

Sometimes, we are too busy to notice the small things at home that had gone wrong.

This is what I learned this week. I was too busy with work and my kids in that I did not notice that my oil furnace is malfunctioning and has been circulating bad indoor air quality all over the house. Being a housewife, I make sure that my kids eat on time and put on clean clothes. While I was doing these chores, I let the air conditioner do its job. It is also very cold outside and thus I have to finish tasks as soon as I can so I will avoid the cold, and instead have more time enjoying the comforting warmth of the furnace and the space heater that we use occasionally. The furnace has been years old with us still fully functioning. The heating equipment is able to provide the house with enough heat that it needs. I also consult advice from an HVAC serviceman in the neighborhood but had never availed of a scheduled HVAC maintenance and HVAC tune-up. One day, there was really something weird about the indoor air quality. It stinks like there is some dead rat hidden somewhere. I searched every corner of the kitchen and found none. There was only the heater that worked all day long. I examined the furnace closely and found that the stink came there. It is tempting to fix the heating system on my own, but I don’t want to risk it and instead, called the services of an HVAC professional. It was later found that the air from our oil furnace is clogged with dust, debris and molds. The heating system needs a thorough HVAC maintenance and cleaning. While the HVAC maintenance took place, I seek refuge in the space heater that worked just fine. I realized that my oil furnace needs a scheduled HVAC maintenance and that before winter starts, I should let a heating technician check the heater for any possible repair or damage.
