I work in a restaurant and occasionally I have to close the locale.
When this happens I absolutely get a small little pay increase that week. Because there is so much that needs to be done when you close the locale. One of the things that people do not even suppose is that the people I was with and I constantly have to make sure that the central heating and A/C unit is turned off. They do not like to have the central heating and A/C unit running when no one is there most of the time. The only time that this is allowed is if there is a major heat wave going on. Then they allow the locale to have the central air conditioning unit running twenty many hours a afternoon and seven mornings a week until the heat wave is over and done with. This is a safety measure in the event there is a power failure. This way when everyone comes in while in the morning time they will not walk into a mini inferno of a locale! If the central air conditioning was off all night while in a heat wave it would not be pretty to come in the morning. So that is the only time I do not have to make sure that the central heating and A/C unit is off while in the tasks I have to do when I close the restaurant. I have not had to close it in a while as others were assigned that task. But I am going to be up once again for the task next week and for the next week after.
