I was talking with a neighbor of mine who said that Heating and A/C service is a waste of currency.
Furthermore, he claimed that anyone could repair and Heating and A/C system if they were at all mechanically inclined.
This guy normally knows what he’s talking about so, I was a bit surprised by what sounded enjoy garbage. My thinking has always been that Heating and A/C trained professionals were professionals with all sorts of certifications and licenses. So I took the option to see for myself the next time the Heating and A/C guy came to do the semi annual Heating and A/C service. When he arrived, I stopped my toil and asked him if I could just observe and stay out of the way. I relayed to him what my friend had said and that I just wanted to see for myself. This made the tech smile real big and he said it would be a satisfaction to have myself and others alongside. First of all, I can say that these gentlemen are prepared, organized and ready to get to work. This Heating and A/C tech knew exactly what he was looking at and immediately got to work. While he was doing each inspection, he was telling myself and others what he was looking for and why. He went through the entire Heating and A/C system in just over and hour. There were a couple of small items that he caught which he was able to correct. While we were together, I asked him about the amount of training he had to go through. I was surprised by the answer. While I knew the training and certification was intense, I had no method how much time they committed to studying their craft. So, my neighbor was full of garbage and I was thrilled to tell him so.
