Fall season and how it’s important to have your heater serviced before the winter.

My aunt would have me unscrew the vents and have me clean them off with a toothbrush, it was tedious but I sure did love being in a cozy heated home so I didn’t complain at all

I was born in September and have always been biased towards the fall season. Growing up in the northern part of the country, it’s the best time of year because the summer usually is too hot to be comfortable. So when it cools down in the fall, it’s time to pull out the hoodies and light jackets and my wardrobe really gets to shine. I think I have a great fashion sense and it really shows in the fall season. All the leaves start changing colors and people are excited for halloween so we can all eat candy with reckless abandon. Another thing I remember is my Uncle Jimmy coming over to service our furnace before the cold came with the winter. He would change our filters and tell my aunt that she should have replaced them a couple of times already. My aunt only changed them once a year, against her brother’s suggestions. Uncle Jimmy knew everything he should check for. I remember him standing in the basement and asking me if I smelt anything off. My aunt would have me unscrew the vents and have me clean them off with a toothbrush, it was tedious but I sure did love being in a cozy heated home so I didn’t complain at all. We never got stuck with a furnace that didn’t work though. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like not having heat when we really needed it. Because of this practice of cleaning the furnace in the fall I learned why it’s better to be proactive in all areas of life, not just preparing the furnace for the winter.
