How much insulation is recommended?

My spouse insists on doing all the labor in our house, my friend and I knew our cabin needed new insulation when my associate and I bought it! It was a fixer upper home, and he thought he could do all the work, despite the fact that I wasn’t so sure. When he asked me how much insulation my associate and I needed in the walls, I knew my associate and I were in trouble. I remembered my Mom talking about insulation when he was building an addition to the house. He told mom my associate and I needed at least an R-23 for the exterior walls, as well as he told his how several rolls to buy. I told my spouse this as well as he was okay. My question was; what is R-value? My spouse told me I had a PC, so I should look it up. I didn’t know that R stands for resistance to heat flow, as well as the higher the R-Value, the more insulating power there is as well as there is more resistance to the loss of heat. I found this fascinating as well as I asked if there was a option of having too high of an R Value? Once again I went to my PC, as well as then I learn him the answer. I told him it is possible to over-insulate a house? I told him they asked the question of whether my associate and I are in jeopardy of having too much insulation, as well as their answer to their question is absolutely not. Most homes have too little insulation as well as the guy who wrote the article said he had never seen where they have too much. He told me that since I had all the answers, I should go to the cabin center, tell them what R Value my associate and I needed as well as how several feet of it my associate and I needed.
