Sometimes I think that the biggest challenge in life is learning how to coexist with another human being.
I know that we are all fed to this societal expectation of growing up and getting married, but I don’t know how realistic that is.
If you’ve ever tried to combine your life with somebody else’s… You probably realize that it is a difficult task. This is something my husband and I have been trying to figure out for the past 20 years. It doesn’t help that we started adding in kids a while ago to make things more complicated. My husband, for instance, is convinced that the children are absolutely dirty. He has become obsessed with indoor air quality ever since we started producing offspring. He cannot fathom that their dirty little mouths don’t create the dirty indoor air. He does not want all of their school germs to be exhaled and circulated through our central heating, cooling, and air quality control system. He is also very paranoid about the bacteria and viruses proliferating inside of our air ducts, air vents, and air filters. As such, my husband is constantly calling out the local heating, cooling, and air quality control repair shop for professional air quality inspections. Every time, he starts purchasing extreme air quality management equipment before we even have a chance to talk about it. Then we have to fight about our HVAC budget and the “filth” of our children. These days, I don’t know if it’s more challenging to live with five kids… Or my extremely air quality control obsessed husband.
