Need a safer furnace

I am 5 months pregnant and all over our fiance that our heating machine needs to change, right now the two of us own a gas fireplace with a glass front plate showing a faux fire. The glass plate gets to be lava boiling when the heating machine is on. My fiance has burned her back on it before just leaning against it. The two of us have to warn guests away from it since it will fool you. I want to change to heated flooring since the heating machine will be hidden away and be much safer, but also since it is electric, no polluted air quality since dust is not circulated. The energy bill should be lower since radiant heat warms stationary objects and doesn’t rise to the ceiling. My fiance is hesitant to foot that giant bill right when the two of us are about to have a baby. I am pushing for the current heating replacement now; Can you imagine ripping up flooring with an infant? All the dust and debris would be a big issue. Also, I do not want our baby being around a dangerous heater. What happens when our child starts walking? If she falls over and touches the glass she will burn her hands. The two of us could put a baby gate around it, but that would look horrible. That gas fireplace has been a pain since day 1 too. It needs to go and heated flooring should take its place. It will be high-priced but long term save us quite a bit, even if it didn’t, you can’t put a price tag on how much your child’s safety is worth.
