I work at an association that serves as an advocate for private career schools in our state. You know, those kinds of schools that teach nursing, barbering, truck driving, and so on. These kinds of schools often get a bad rap, but for the most part, they serve a good and possibly even vital need in our state and in the other states in our country. One of the women who serves on our board of directors is a nurse and has been involved in nursing education for over 40 years. She is an amazing educator and a fun person. She was recently talking about retiring, and I asked her how she would be able to pay for her health insurance. That’s when she told me about her husband and how she met him. One day, she woke up and her house was about 85 degrees, according to the thermostat on the wall. She checked the HVAC circuit breaker, and it was on. She felt near the a/c air vent, and there was air coming out, but the air felt like it was the heater and not the a/c. She actually checked the thermostat on the central heating and cooling to make sure it was set to cooling, and it was. Usually, the a/c doesn’t flip its own button from cooling to heating while everyone is asleep, but she still checked. She called the a/c service repair number on the sticker on the bottom of the thermostat, and the skilled HVAC technician showed up. The rest is history, and they have been married fifteen years.
