My boss recently announced that the COVID pandemic required us to make some updates to maintenance. We needed to be sure of the hygiene of the working environment. Because of this, the offices would be getting thoroughly cleaned every week. On the day when the commercial cleaning crew was coming in, we would be working from home. This sounded ideal to me. I was looking forward to working from a much cleaner environment and also the ability to stay at home for one workday. My boss scheduled the cleaning crew to come in on Mondays. This gave our whole team an extra long weekend. Although we’re still required to put in the same hours, working from home almost felt like a day off. It also made the work week feel shorter. Plus, when I came back into the office on Tuesday, the whole building smells wonderfully fresh and clean. I’m not sure what brand of cleaning products they use, but the fragrance is very pleasant. Plus, all the surfaces from the desks to the windows and lightswitches are shiny and clean. The bathrooms have been disinfected. The carpets are spotless. It’s so nice. I think that having a clean office setting has improved morale and productivity. Everyone seems to be in a better mood and ready to work. We are energized by the healthy environment. Hiring the professional cleaning crew has made a huge difference. I also think that the furnishings of the office will last longer because of the care they are receiving. There’s less stains and the maintenance combats wear and tear.
