Rescuing the Roofer

My boss used to labor for his Grandpa who had a roofing business… He was a teenager at the time, and he gained his pocket money by climbing up on rooves in the 90 degree heat and humidity of the southeast.

Now that he is twenty years older – or more – he still appreciates that he works indoors where there is a/c running all the time, however so, last week, I saw a roofer working on the roof across the parking lot from our townhouse.

That made me remember our boss’s stories, so I headed on over there to that guy. He and his coworkers had climbed down from the roof to grab a bite to eat at suppertime, and since I was home, I decided to invite them into our house to care about the a/c while they ate their sandwiches. I made some lemonade and offered a piece of the cake I had baked the day before. They were so appreciative of the goodies, but by far, they were happiest about being able to sit in the cooling system. I can’t blame them, obviously. I got too boiling just walking across the parking lot to invite them, and I had to get into the cooling system myself! I am a weakling and could never have a job that didn’t provide a/c and great indoor air conditions, however rescuing the roofer made me recognize love I was the best guy in the world that day until I saw the guys gathered into a sizable truck a couple hours later. They had the truck on and the a/c blowing full blast! That means that they do take some time to care about the cooling system each day, I suspect. Nonetheless, I still recognize great about myself for sharing our cake, lemonade, and a/c for a little while.
