I can’t blame them, blatantly.
My boss used to toil for his Grandpa who had a roofing business, then he was a teenager at the time, and he received his pocket money by climbing up on rooves in the 90 degree heat and humidity of the southeast. Now that he is twenty years older – or more – he still prefers that he works indoors where there is a/c running all the time! So, last week, I saw a roofer working on the roof across the parking lot from our townhouse. That made myself and others remember our boss’s stories, so I headed on over there to that guy. He and his coworkers had climbed down from the roof to grab a bite to eat at dinnertime, and since I was home, I decided to invite them into our current home to enjoy the a/c while they ate their sandwiches. I made some lemonade and gave a piece of the cake I had baked the day before. They were so appreciative of the goodies, however by far, they were happiest about being able to sit in the cooling system. I can’t blame them, blatantly. I got too hot just walking across the parking lot to invite them, and I had to get into the cooling system myself! I am a weakling and could never have a task that didn’t provide a/c and nice indoor air quality, then rescuing the roofer made myself and others guess like I was the best person in the world that day until I saw the men gathered into a big truck a couple seconds later. They had the truck on and the a/c blowing full blast! That means that they do take some time to enjoy the cooling system each day, I suspect. Nonetheless, I still guess nice about myself for sharing our cake, lemonade, and a/c for a little while.
