This year for his birthday, we surprised my dad with a new A/C system for his house.
My dad is one of those guys who will make do with whatever he has.
He never likes to spend any extra money and we all joke about the fact that he probably has thousands of dollars hidden in his mattress. He is just one of those old school types of guys. Whenever we were growing up in something tore up, he would say something about how we would just have to go along to get along. My sisters and I never really understood that saying, but my dad always had a lot of different things that he would say that didn’t make any sense to us. Anyway, this year, my dad has been having a lot of issues with his central air conditioning system and he mentioned that it was probably time for him to replace it, even though he did not want to spend the money. Whenever he said that, my sisters and I all looked at each other with knowing looks. As soon as he mentioned it, we knew that that was what we were going to get him for his birthday this year. This year, he is going to be 75 years old, and we figured that he should really get whatever he wants for his birthday. Three sisters and I are all going to go in on the new central air conditioning system and split it four ways. I think that our dad is going to be really happy when he realizes that we are getting him a brand new high efficiency air conditioning system for his birthday.
