It was a pretty serious struggle when I first joined college.
Dealing with homesickness was not the only problem considering climate change.
I actually felt uncomfortable pretty much always, especially when I was outdoors. I came from a certain place where the weather was frigid, plus my dream college was way too hot… This hasty difference meant that I needed to adjust in a jiffy. After settling in, the first thing I did was shop for appropriate clothing because most of my previous ones were basically meant for the freezing weather. Once I could fit in separate from looking crazy, I decided that the next sizable move would be to get an air conditioner since the one in the hostels seemed to never work in the least. The school website claimed that it was a current one, yet its functioning did not reflect this. Genuinely, no amount of decreasing the temperature control setting in my room made it comfortable for me. It seems my roommates also had a hard time with this as she always kept her side of the window open while in the day plus periodically at night. I suggested that the two of us spend money on a portable window AC if she was willing to share the costs, which she did. One month down the line, the school management hired a professional HVAC business to check the air conditioner machine since the complaints on the student portal had become overwhelming. It turns out that the original business that had installed the HVAC machine had done some shoddy work plus failed to install the mini-split A/C machines officially. The current team took a few afternoons, plus everything was restored to what it was meant to be. My roommate plus I decided to keep the window AC machine just in case the complication returned.
