Not many of years ago, our husband and I purchased a small condo down south, the two of us now divide our time, spending the Spring and Summer weeks up north and the fall and Wintertide seasons down south, but it is such a relief to escape the snow and frigid cold hot and cold temperatures… When the weather becomes too hot and humid at our holiday house, both of us head north to milder hot and cold temperatures.
The two of us appreciate the best of both locations, and since the homes are empty while I was in the most severe weather, both of us adjust the thermostat to minimize energy use! However, there is always the problem of power outages or a malfunction with the furnace or air conditioning.
In our holiday house, going without air conditioning wouldn’t be a crucial problem. The high moisture levels might result in some mold or mildew growth. The hot, damp environment would absolutely encourage the population of cockroaches, dust mites and other insects… Up north, a problem with the furnace could lead to way more expensive disfigure. The two of us experience hot and cold temperatures well below frigid for long periods of time. Without heat, it’s unquestionably possible the water pipes might freeze and even burst.
