I never in all my imaginings thought I would be in a situation where I was helping take care of more than 20 animals at a time. But when your wife is the best pet home finder in the area, that comes with the territory I suppose. Much of my life has been spent going to work, coming home and relaxing in the HVAC heating and cooling comfort of my home. In there, I would do my chores around the house, cook a bit and have some fun as well. Then, my wife found five puppies on the side of the road and brought them home. It was as though she experienced some sort of epiphany as she found these puppies good, forever homes within the week. It was impressive and she started volunteering at the animal shelter. But she found that the animal shelter was so underfunded, they could barely keep the HVAC cooling bills paid. That meant there were many lost and abandoned pets that just fell through the cracks. The next thing I know, that relaxing in the air conditioning after work was over. There were just too many fuzzy friends to take care of. It got so intense that all the fur was actually interfering with the HVAC equipment. But with help from friends and the HVAC company, we solved that problem. With some of our savings, help from donations and a big lift from the HVAC company, we built an addition on to the house. This new space houses just the animals we are helping and it even has its own ductless mini split for heating and cooling.
