Finishing off basement with HVAC comfort

This was the cherry on top for our basement project

When we built this house, we chose to forego finishing off the basement in an effort to save on the building costs. Initially, we figured that we would have that be like a rec room or something. But as the building costs spiraled upward, we had to make some cuts. I sure wasn’t cutting corners on something like the great HVAC technology we wanted in our residential HVAC. So we had to make cuts elsewhere and the basement was on the list. Honestly, it really wasn’t all that big a deal. The basement we utilized for storage anyway. But as the years went by, my wife and I really wanted to utilize that space for more than storage. We started out by spending a weekend clearing out the basement. Then we just sort of started finishing off the basement on our own. Actually, it was sort of fun. Instead of sitting around in the HVAC cooling, we chose to make the basement a great part of the house. And we were amazed by the fact that we could do so much of the work on our own. From the dry wall to putting down a faux wood floor, we worked great together as a team. And we learned so much as well. Of course, when it came to the heating and cooling part, we brought in HVAC professionals. They came out to install a pair of ductless heat pumps at either end of the basement. This was the cherry on top for our basement project. Now, we have an awesome space for guest or we might even rent it out from time to time. Either way, we are so pleased with our efforts and the HVAC comfort from the ductless heat pumps.
