As a heating and air conditioning professional, I often have a lot of people ask me questions on basic care of their HVAC systems, and I am always glad to help out.
There are a lot of people that actually don’t know that much about their furnace or air conditioner, and basically let their A/C specialist handle any problems they experience. While I understand and agree that they should let the professionals do the work, I also believe that people should be informed on basic HVAC knowledge. Because the issue is, when something goes wrong with the heater or A/C, people don’t know what’s wrong and what caused it, so they rely on the HVAC technician to fix it again and wait until another problem comes up. However, I believe that you should learn how to do the basics of HVAC maintenance and care, because if you know basic things about your heating and air conditioning system, you will also know how to prevent issues. For things like HVAC maintenance, it is simple enough for your average person to learn it, and it can help prevent a ton of issues. For the internal parts, you should leave that to a professional. But once you learn about heating and cooling machines, when something goes wrong, you can determine what went wrong and how to prevent issues in the future, and maybe if it is simple enough, fix it yourself! I know some people would rather be lazy and the heating technicians handle it, but it’s something to keep in mind.
