I made a mistake in putting my thermostat right next to my kitchen

Remodelling can take you on many strange twists and turns that can leave you utterly speechless. My cousin was having marble countertops installed when the builder slipped trying to hoist one of the slabs onto the countertop. The large piece of granite snapped, leaving hundreds of pounds of rock to tumble violently onto the tile floor. The cabinet was damaged, the floor was destroyed where the granite fell, and the broken piece of granite compromised the entire set. In these cases, the pieces are matched ahead of the job. If one piece breaks, it’s next to impossible to find a replacement that will match the rest of the set. That means the builder has to get an entirely new set of granite to do the job, costing them thousands of dollars. Not to mention, there is all of the damage to my cousin’s house that they were liable to fix as well. I was hoping and praying I wouldn’t run into any catastrophes like that while remodelling my house. Thankfully, the worst blunder I made during the process was the placement of my heating and cooling thermostat. In my inexperience, I assumed that placement of the HVAC thermostat was a trivial issue. I did not anticipate running into any problems if I put it in one location in my home versus another. For the sake of proximity alone, I put it right outside my kitchen in the passageway to my living room. This area is inevitably hit with warm air whenever we cook as that is the direction the air flows as it moves from the ceiling register in the kitchen and back through the return in the living room. As a result, the thermostat reads the temperature in the house as higher than it is in reality, if we happen to be cooking while it cycles. Sadly, our AC is running more than it should just because of my negligence with thermostat placement. There are some things better left to the professionals.
