Have you ever had an inanimate object for so long that feel as if you have formed a legitimate bond with it? I can’t say that this has ever happened to me, but this is a current problem that my fiance is having a hard time with. Now that my fiance and I are getting married and moving in together soon we had to make some tough choices regarding what we were going to hold onto and what we were going to get rid of. I work as an HVAC repair tech for a living, and thanks to my career path I tend to have access to the latest and greatest in HVAC gear. Even though you would think that we would opt for my air conditioning unit for our new place, this was a very hard topic for us to get through. Ever since my fiance had been living on her own she had been using the same air conditioning unit. Even as a broke college kid she would tell me that the air conditioning unit would never let her down, and it had been what she described as her “good luck charm”. Now don’t get me wrong I love this woman so much, but I am simply not willing to lug around an old and bulky air conditioning unit into our new home just because she has had it for a dozen years. I do understand where she is coming from though, having something reliable like an A/C unit during those broke college years must have been extremely appreciated. Once we finally get settled into the new place and she gets to feel what a state of the art air conditioning unit can do however, I think she will finally be able to move on from it.
