When Mrs. Murphy called me from the grocery store, she sounded frantic and upset. She opened the doors that morning and both of the freezers were warm. Ice cream, popsicles, and other frozen confections were all melted all over the racks. Thousands of dollars of frozen seafood, pasta, meals, and vegetables all had to be thrown in the trash. I have been servicing this particular commercial HVAC account for the past ten years. I know the store inside and out, and I helped install the coolers that handle the frozen foods. I told Mrs. Murphy that I would leave the store immediately to help. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the bridge and I got stuck halfway across the water. Two cars collided side by side and the damage was severe. Three of the four lanes were blocked off from the accident. The police were trying to clean up the accident and the ambulance was taking care of the injured people. I sat on the bridge for 90 minutes while everyone waited for traffic to start moving. I called Mrs Murphy several times to update her on the accident. She waited for me to arrive and I fixed the problem with the commercial chiller that needed to be serviced. Later that night, I was watching the news and I got more information on the accident. There was also a cyclist involved in the crash, but he was ejected from the bike and thrown over the side of the bridge. Part of the long ninety minute wait included the rescue efforts to save his life.
