If you have an HVAC warranty, then you need to make sure that you keep it up to date.
- If you don’t keep your HVAC warranty up to date with the proper checks on it, then you may end up voiding your warranty the way that I did a couple of years ago.
Whenever I did this, I was so mad at myself because it was something that I could have easily avoided. We purchased a brand new high efficiency heating and cooling system for our house two years ago and it was a beauty. This HVAC system did everything and it was top of the line. Since we ended up paying so much money for it, we decided that it would be a good idea to purchase the extended warranty for it. We knew that if the regular factory warranty ran out, we would have extra coverage because of this extended warranty. Since it was such a big investment for us, we wanted to make sure that it was covered for a really long time. The only caveat to the warranty was the fact that you have to have your HVAC system checked out at least twice a year by a professional HVAC technician. I mean, that only makes sense because otherwise, the heating and cooling system could tear up and you would never know it until it was too late. Of course, I forgot to make the appointments and I ended up voiding our warranty. I was so mad at myself when I realized that I had done this!
