When we bought this house we thought it was a great deal.
It seemed to have everything we wanted so we didn’t bother with realtors at all.
We simply got a loan from the bank and purchased the house. I really wish we had used realtors. This house has a lot of problems that we didn’t notice. To start with, the house is not level and it cost us more than a few thousand dollars to level it. Another costly issue that the house has is that the roof leaks. the previous owners must have painted the ceiling so that we wouldn’t see the water marks when we looked at the house. But I can tell you, this roof leaks really bad. We hired a roofing contractor to come out and do a roof inspection for us. He is recommending that we have a completely new roof installed. I just wish that we had hired a roofing inspection before we bought this house. But that’s water under the bridge (or under the roof anyway). We’re going to go ahead and get the new roof installation done. Of course, we have had to refinance the house already in order to afford all of these repairs. However, when we’re done, at least we will have a home that we can live in and be proud of. This really hasn’t affected the mortgage payment much anyway. I know it’s a small thing, but I’m also going to have the roofing contractors install a gutter system on the house too. For some reason this house doesn’t have any rain gutters. What water doesn’t fall through the ceiling, washes over you when you’re walking out the door. Oh well, we will fix one thing at a time.
