Roof leak causes ceiling to collapse

One of my employees was working away when water suddenly started dripping from the light fixture above her.

This didn’t make any sense because it hadn’t rained in over a week. We had our maintenance guy remove the ceiling tiles and take a look. He said there were no pipes up in that area and that the water was leaking from the roof. He went up on the roof and explained that it was the air conditioning condensation that was creating the water. First we have the HVAC guys come out and reroute the condensation drip pipe. But that didn’t fix the roof issue, obviously. So we went ahead and hired some roofing contractors to patch up the roof. They spent two days pouring new tar on the roof but, would you know it, a week later it rained and water started dripping through the light fixture again. The leak was so bad that we had to move the employee’s desk. Thank God we did, because the ceiling fell in shortly thereafter. That’s when we knew it was time to hire a roofing contractor to completely replace the company roof. We looked up commercial roof replacement and found a reputable contractor. They did a lot more than just spread around some tar on the roof. It took them a few weeks but now we have no more leaks and we have a roof for our company and it should last a few more decades. The roofs is guaranteed for at least 10 years. Any problems happen in that time, they will fix it for free. I’m happy about that. I’m also happy knowing that the ceiling will not collapse on my employees anytime in the near future.
