When my girlfriend and I first moved in together we were inseparable.
So when something as simple as the heating and cooling system nearly tore us apart, it left both of us in a state of shock.
It all started only two weeks after she had moved in with me, she had changed the thermostat without asking me. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if it wasn’t for the fact that she turned it down to 60 degrees! Not only was I freezing but the energy bill wasn’t pretty as a result of it. When I brought it up to her, she thought I was trying to control her and accused me of wanting her to ask for permission to do anything. This wasn’t true, I didn’t care if she wanted to adjust the thermostat, however it is expensive and it makes me cold so I wanted her to ask me first, or at least pay for the extra cost. Then we got into a big argument over our temperature preferences, and I learned that she could be the queen of winter because she loves cold temperatures and her ideal temperature was 50 degrees. I however, am the opposite and I like room temperature and warm temperatures. We started fighting over the thermostat and I knew we had to do something. We weren’t even speaking to each other now and so I did some research and learned about zone controlled HVAC systems, with this system in place you can control the temperature of each room individually. I took a chance and purchased it and now we both can have our temperature preferences and it saved our relationship.
