I was actually surprised when the HVAC professional excluded me from the basement while he was working.
He asked us to please keep all the children away from there as well because opening the HVAC equipment was a hazard and only professionals should be in the area.
I honestly wanted to watch the man while he was working so I could ask questions about my HVAC equipment. I mean, I could understand what he was saying for safety purposes, but it was still disappointing. Still, I listened and made sure nobody went down into the basement. The kids wanted to go down there to ask questions too. I know that’s because we had a few different HVAC companies we worked with in the past, and there was at least one occasion where the HVAC professional was happy to answer all of our questions while he was working. He even joked around with the kids which I thought was great. So when the HVAC professional was done, he thanked us for not interrupting with his work. He said he used to let people watch while he worked and he would answer any questions, but there was an incident when a child was injured. He said it wasn’t a job he was doing, it was another HVAC professional, but since that time, people were no longer allowed to be in the area where the professionals were working. After hearing his explanation, it all made sense. He did explain everything he did for us and said our HVAC was in great working condition now. He even turned it on for us so we could see how everything was working before he left.
