I definitely didn’t feel good about getting the air conditioning fixed the way I did it.
But the fact of the matter was that our money was really tight and I just was trying to save money and get the HVAC cooling back on.
But not calling the HVAC company to have them do the work just felt weird really. This was the first time in my life that I didn’t look to an HVAC professional for help with my HVAC equipment. But in an effort to save on HVAC repair when the air conditioning went down, I called a guy that my buddy uses. The guy says he was once an HVAC technician and really knew what he was doing. The guy came out right away which was nice. And he had the part which enabled him to get the HVAC cooling running again. He charged me roughly 30 to 40 percent less than the HVAC company. I was happy to save money anywhere I could and get the air conditioning running. However, it ran for about 3 weeks before it broke again. The guy we used was happy to come look at it again but his work from before was not guaranteed. Nor would any of the work he did on the HVAC equipment be guaranteed. And that’s when I picked up the phone to call the HVAC company. Not only did they fix the HVAC equipment that day, they did it properly and stand behind their work. Of course, I haven’t had any issues with the heat pump since the HVAC professionals fixed it properly.
